My journey here over the past year and few months has been truly exciting. The most thrilling aspect is that we take a futuristic approach in everything we do—both for our clients and in the personal development that the business encourages.

Day in the Life: What does a typical day look like for you as a Business Development Manager at INN8? Any interesting or challenging moments that stand out?

My day typically involves meeting with about three advisers, connecting with them and their businesses to add value in various ways by understanding their challenges and identifying opportunities to develop their future practices. The most interesting moments are when I get to know an adviser on a personal level.

Key Learnings: In your role, what are the key skills or insights you've gained that have been crucial for success in business development at INN8?

At the core of it all are long-term oriented relationship management both with internal and external stakeholders, effective delegation with internal stakeholders, time management and organisation, and conflict management to retain assets on our platform.

Client Connections: Building relationships with clients is a crucial aspect of business development. Can you share a story about a client interaction that taught you something valuable or left a lasting impression?

On one particular Friday, I stopped by one of my adviser’s offices to catch up. It was probably my fifth visit since they became my client within the last three months. During this visit, the support staff and I had a full-blown conversation about their personal life journeys. This was important as it gave me valuable context to their incredible personalities. Looking back at the success I've had through this office, it's no surprise.

Challenges and Solutions: Every role comes with its challenges. What's a challenge you've faced as a BDM, and how did you overcome it? Any lessons learned?

A challenge I embrace is managing business seasonality with a growing adviser. I overcame this by reaching out to more senior colleagues and management for their insights and implementing their suggested plans of action.

Personal Growth: In your time at INN8, how have you personally grown, either professionally or personally? Are there any experiences that have shaped you?

Since the platform is forward-thinking, one must embrace and pursue changes that are in the best interest of the future. This mindset has significantly influenced my personal life, bringing many benefits.

Advice for Future BDMs: If you could go back and give advice to yourself when you started as a BDM at INN8, what would it be? What advice do you have for someone aspiring to join the INN8 family?

My advice would be to delegate well, and remember that relationships with advisers are just as important as those with your team and support.
