“Illustrating the benefits of a good product cash account”

This is about DFM’s as well as a good story to illustrate the benefits of the product cash account. During a virtual meeting on March 14th, which included a group of advisers and the DFM responsible for managing these advisers, the importance of aligning a strong DFM proposition with a quality adviser proposition was discussed. One of the significant benefits highlighted was the streamlined process enabled by the DFM’s online platform.

In the past, advisers had to submit spreadsheets to the OPS department for any switches or rebalances, causing delays and complications. However, the DFM’s system allows them to perform rebalances themselves online, eliminating the need for manual intervention. This feature impressed one DFM in the meeting, who shared their experience with other advisers. They mentioned encountering difficulties with another platform that imposed restrictions due to fee runs, closures, and upcoming events like Easter. As a result, they were unable to rebalance their portfolio until April 10th, despite it being only March 14th.

The DFM expressed concern about the potential impact of unforeseen events or market crashes during this period, highlighting the disadvantage of being on a platform that couldn’t accommodate their needs like INN8 does. The story serves as a testament to the advantages of INN8’s hosting capabilities for DFMs, emphasing the importance of a platform that enables prompt portfolio adjustments and ensures responsiveness to market dynamics.

Last week, I had a conversation with an adviser I often see at the coffee shop in Saint Tree City. During our chat, one of his clients called him, and the phone call seemed quite frantic. Initially, I thought the client was upset, but it turned out they actually wanted to make an investment. However, they were in a rush because they had heard about an announcement from FIT that compelled them to act immediately.

This adviser had joined the company a couple of months ago and had recently acquired his first client, who happened to be the one calling. The adviser was pleased that the client wanted to invest more, but he had a lot of tasks ahead and needed to send the client a form.

Realising the situation, I intervened and inquired if this was the same client featured in his advertisement. I informed him that he didn’t need to send a form; all he had to do was confirm the details with the client and proceed to the platform to make the top-up. I explained the process to him, and we sat together to complete the top-up, which went smoothly without any complications.

Two days later, the adviser contacted me to share that the client’s account had been debited, and the client was satisfied. When it comes to clients who are in a hurry to manage their accounts by making top-ups or withdrawals, the process is as straightforward as advertised. It’s a seamless and efficient system, and I believe there’s no other platform that simplifies it further.

The fee-nomenom unleashed

Recently, I had a conversation with an adviser who expressed their concern about our platform being expensive. They had obtained a quote from STANLIB and found the Estimated Annual Cost (EAC) to be quite high, which made it difficult for them to see how we could compete in terms of pricing. They also mentioned that they always presented our quote to their clients.

Curious to understand their perspective and assess their familiarity with our fee structure and INN8, I asked probing questions. It became clear that they had no knowledge of either. Their preferred platform was NinetyOne because they offered them a special fee arrangement.

I took the opportunity to inform them about our platform fee on INN8, explaining the concept of aggregation and highlighting that we were the first platform to aggregate offshore assets on a local platform. This revelation surprised them. I also emphasized that the INN8 platform is a seamless and paperless system, offering straight-through processing. This aspect seemed to be a game changer for them as they were seeking ways to streamline their administrative tasks and reduce paperwork.

As a result, the adviser expressed interest in a demo of INN8 and requested that I include their administrative staff and other advisers within their firm who could potentially benefit from our platform.

A smooth process

I was at the Advice Works office in Tyger Valley, and it was a busy day with most of the advisers present. While sitting with one adviser, another adviser entered the room and urgently asked for assistance in setting up a regular monthly premium for a difficult client. I assured them that we could handle it quickly, mentioning that our system was so user-friendly that we could probably get the client loaded within five minutes. The advisor had the client’s ID with them, so I excused myself from the current meeting and joined the advisor in their office.

We swiftly logged onto the INN8 website, set up the prospect, loaded the case, completed the necessary tasks, and even provided a quick quote. The client expressed satisfaction with the process, and we informed her that an activation email would be sent soon. We also assisted her with her login details during the same conversation. The advisor was delighted that we accomplished everything within the promised five minutes and left the office pleased.

Later, I sat down with the assistant to upload the client’s ID, and she was also impressed with the smooth and efficient process. Returning to my meeting with the other adviser, I shared the story, and all the advisers in the office were impressed by the ease of use of the INN8 platform and our ability to assist with client sign-ups.

Additionally, I had a phone call with Mike Wright, who had been struggling with a difficult trust client for over a week. Although frustrated with the process, he acknowledged our efforts in keeping everyone informed and resolving the client’s login activation issue promptly. Despite the time it took, he recognised that trusts can be complex and appreciated our handling of the situation.

Going above and beyond

The incident occurred during an afternoon phone call that led to a visit to the hospital. Isabel Oosthuizen, an adviser from Adviceworx in George, had a client in Cape Town who had been hospitalised. The client required some documents to be signed, but there were no friends or family available to assist. The only solution was for Isabel to make a four-hour drive to Cape Town herself and have the client sign the documents in person.

Upon hearing about the situation, Ruan van Rensburg, didn’t hesitate to take matters into his own hands. He decided to visit the hospital personally, obtain the client’s signature, and then send the documents back to Isabel, allowing her to proceed with the case.

Although the person narrating the story was on their way to an adviser meeting and didn’t participate in the actual event, they explained that Isabel had no other options and that Ruan, willingly took on the task. He made the drive to meet the client, printed the necessary documents, obtained the signature, and returned them promptly. This anecdote highlights the exceptional commitment of the BDMs at INN8, demonstrating their willingness to go above and beyond for both advisers and clients, no matter how challenging or unconventional the situation may be.
